Redbox News

Redbox has been nominated as a finalist in the Diamond Valley Business Achiever Awards in the Accommodation and Attractions category. This is the second consecutive year that Redbox has been nominated. In 2006 Redbox was placed second by a tiny margin, perhaps this year will be different. The awards presentation night will be held on Thursday 6th September at ‘The Centre Ivanhoe’. Colin, Glenys and Clayton would like to thank Redbox customers for their continued support.

The Redbox Wine Club is now up and running, offering free membership, 20% discount at the cellar door, our exclusive wine club newsletter ‘Grapevine’, an individual member card, and sample packs of some of our unique and new release wines three times a year. To join, simply go to www.redboxvineyard.com.au and click on the link to the Wine Club and follow the instructions, or, grab a form at the cellar door!

 New Releases/Awards

Redbox has released a number of new wines since the last release in November 2006.

In March we released the highly anticipated Redbox Ice Cabernet Dessert Wine 2006, which is selling very quickly.

The Redbox Ice Riesling Dessert Wine 2006 was released in April and has raised more than just a few eyebrows.

Finally the Redbox Pinot Noir 2006 was released in June, and due to its exceptional quality, it has taken off like a rocket!

News just in – Redbox Pinot Noir 2006 has just won a bronze medal in the 2007 Winestate Pinot Noir tasting! Results will be featured in the November December edition of Winestate Magazine.

To read more on these wines just look them up on our web site under the Wines link, or for a free tasting of these wines just drop into the Redbox cellar door any weekend or public holiday.

Fine Dining With Redbox

This month our featured restaurants are;

Alta Vita Café
906 Main Road, Eltham. Ph 9431 6611

A cafe during the day and a casual restaurant in the evening, Alta Vita offers a friendly, comfortable space to enjoy a range of tasty treats. It's so relaxing, you might find yourself forgetting about that diet and making a beeline for one of their specialty cakes.

Evelyn County Estate
Black Paddock Restaurant
55 Eltham-Yarra Glen Road, Kangaroo Ground. Ph 9437 2155

Nestled in the vineyards of the Evelyn County Estate winery, Black Paddock provides a comfortable and stylish dining experience. Chef Gordon Brown has reinvigorated classics like chateaubriand and baked rice pudding to produce a menu that is familiar but not stale. The Estate contains a gallery of artworks by local artists and combined with the contemporary mod-Oz cuisine and of course, plenty of Evelyn County Estate wine, Black Paddock is a uniquely Australian dining experience - even without the patronage of the mob of local kangaroos.

Mercer’s Restaurant
732 Main Road, Eltham. Ph 9431 1015

The location is a classic one, reflecting an era gone by, but the dishes being prepared here have a distinctive modern edge. The widely acclaimed Mercer's offers a fine dining experience in the heart of the Yarra Valley. The mod-Oz menu features such dishes as tempura garfish filled with prawns and glazed duck breast with petit duck pie. The extensive wine list, with over 350 varieties to choose from, represents wines from nearly every wine region in Australia. It's worth the trek to Eltham and after being sated by dinner, we suggest you hold something back for dessert.

We hope you have a chance to enjoy these dining experiences, and don’t forget to ask for Redbox Wines while you’re there!

Next edition due out late September, hope to see you at the cellar door soon!

Regards

Redbox Vineyard
